A man from White Plains reported to police shortly before 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, that he had been bitten by a small white dog that was running in the middle of Post Road near the Scarsdale Public Library.
According to police, the man stated he was bitten by the dog while he and several other people were attempting to help the dog to keep it from being hit by a car. The man went on to corral the dog, who was brought to Scarsdale Police Headquarters. The man stated he did not require an ambulance to respond, and would go to a doctor on his own.
Police said that the dog’s owner responded to police headquarters to inquire if anyone had found a small white dog. It was determined that the dog was currently residing outside the village of Scarsdale, and its owner's parents were watching the dog when it got away.
As a result of the bite, the dog has to be quarantined for 10 days in Scarsdale, and its owner must submit proper rabies vaccination and other paperwork to police for review.
